ABOUT ME

DJ Nabs-

DJ Nabs is a native of Durham N.C. who began his career in Atlanta as a mix show DJ for WVEE radio. After hearing Nabs’ skill on the turntables, upcoming producer Jermaine Dupri formed a highly successful collaboration with DJ Nabs and his teen rap group Kris Kross. Nabs would eventually become So So Def’s exclusive DJ backing up Da Brat, Xscape, Jermaine Dupri and Bow Wow.

After years of touring with top artists from Mariah Carey, Ludacris, Ciara and Bow Wow to the King of Pop, Michael Jackson, Nabs returned to Atlanta radio as a full time on air personality/mixer on Hot 97.5 (now Hot 107.9). During his three-year stint at Hot, “In The Lab With DJ Nabs” became a household name in Atlanta along with his weekly party showcase “Old School Sundays” which was held at a trendy club in Midtown called Kaya. In 1998, Nabs produced his first commercially released mixtape/album for Columbia Records entitled “In The Lab With DJ Nabs: The Live Album”. This project featured the live performances of Kurtis Blow, Big Daddy Kane and Wyclef from “Old School Sunday” and studio tracks from Jagged Edge, Jermaine Dupri and a then unknown Ludacris. DJ Nabs later released “The Product & The Power” mixtape compilation and XM radio show on channel 67 The City.

To celebrate his legendary influence in Hip-Hop history, in May 2014 DJ Nabs was honored at “Respect the DJ”—an Atlanta event that showcases DJs of various genres from Hip Hop to Top 40. Later that year, Nabs was featured as a notable pioneer in southern Rap music alongside Usher, Uncle Luke, Outkast and many other artists in the VH1 Rock Docs ATL:

The Untold Story of Atlanta’s Rise in the Rap Game. Not only has DJ Nabs taken southern Rap by storm, but he has also taken over in the world of amateur boxing. Nabs is currently undefeated with a 2-0 record and is going for his third victory later this month. His connection to boxing comes from his deep-rooted respect for the discipline and challenge that this sport demands from him every time he steps into the ring. In 2015, DJ Nabs and industry-veteran Michael Mauldin are demanding a new challenge by bringing in a class of talented DJs with the “Ultimate Mad DJ”—an online talent battle showcasing the hottest up-and-coming DJs in the country. The winners will perform in their hometowns at the world-famous Scream Tour 14: The Reintroduction Tour, which starts in March.

DJ Nabs is currently at BOOM 102.9—an Atlanta station for classic Hip Hop. He continues to reinvent the title of DJ with his Fox 5 Atlanta’s megamix commercial that combines his video mixing skills with the Network’s top shows. The creative idea has sparked interest from fortune 500 companies nationally for his expertise in video mixing their brands. The innovative trailblazer is set to launch a forthcoming bio doc, American DJ Story. The groundbreaking biopic depicts Nabs’ professional and personal life, and the relevancy of the DJ art form as the music industry changes.
