Legendary turntablist DJ NABS made history as the only DJ to tour worldwide with Michael Jackson, serving as Music Director and DJ for Kris Kross on the iconic Dangerous World Tour (1992). But that career-defining moment launched three decades of groundbreaking contributions to hip-hop culture and music innovation.

The Durham, NC native pioneered the branded radio show concept with "In the Lab with DJ Nabs," which became a blueprint for hip-hop radio formats across the country. The visionary would expand his broadcast into a legendary Atlanta club production featuring hip-hop's founding fathers, and released his debut album on Columbia Records (1998). NABS spent 21 years as the DJ for Kris Kross and has a 25-year tenure with So So Def Recordings,  he is among the influential figures who contributed to establishing Atlanta as hip-hop's capital. A turntable instrumentalist from the South worked extensively on tours with iconic artists, Mariah Carey, Ciara, Lil Jon, in addition to the Nickelodeon All That Tour (featuring Kenan Thompson and Nick Cannon) brought art of turntablism to diverse audiences worldwide while hip-hop was still fighting to be heard.

Durham gave me my foundation, my values, and my drive. Every stage I've stood on—from the Dangerous World Tour to today with The Southern Brothas—I've carried the Bull City with me. Receiving the Homegrown Hero Award and being honored with 'DJ NABS Day' means more than I could express. It's recognition that our hometown can produce world-class talent that competes on any stage, anywhere.”

Today, NABS continues to pioneer into the next frontier, co-founding multi-media company, Em City World and forming the coldest band in the land, The Southern Brothas, independently producing music, film, and concerts. The revolutionary continues mentoring the next generation while creating powerful music addressing contemporary issues.
